Preparing and Supplying Artwork for Digital Print
File Format Support
We prefer EPS, TIF and PDF created from Adobe Creative Suite. We will attempt to print from other file types, however we can not predict the outcome. We do not accept file formats from programs like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, or Corel Draw. You will need to export them in any of the above formats. All major design packages are able to save files in at least one if not all of them. All fonts should be outlined (created as curves/paths), or the fonts must be supplied. All included/placed graphics and images must be supplied unless they are “embedded” within the final supplied file.
File Naming
As you could imagine, with hundreds of files coming through our system, naming your files correctly is very important. All files should be given a unique and logical name. If all customers called their artwork “banner.eps” then the potential for errors may occur. For a banner the following name would be ideal - “ZestPromotionBanner_3000x1000” (note - width x height in millimetres)
Once you have all your files for your order ready, then please compress them into one file using Stuffit or Finder on a Mac or Winzip on a PC.
Scaling, Resolution and File Size
Where possible, supply final files at 100% final print size. Adobe Illustrator places a limitation of approx. 5779 mm as the largest workable size. For work that exceeds this, scaling to 10% is efficient. Image resolution should aim at 35mB per square metre at ‘final print size’. The larger the image and the greater the viewing distance, lower resolution images become suitable. Talk to us if you are concerned about your image resolution.
Colour Proofs
Please supply a printed colour proof of each image to be printed, showing finished artwork size and what scale the artwork has been prepared at. It need not be colour accurate but please should show clearly any PMS colours that you would like us to match. CMYK cannot accurately match PMS spot colour. We will, however, visually match the colours as accurately as possible.
Colour Output
Our large format digital printers are CMYK, please supply artwork accordingly.
